Yup, its sad news I’m afraid, but the popular Stargate SG-1 has been canceled, seems that SCI-FI cancels another great show. I’m not sure who runs these networks, I think it must be idiots or monkeys, because they always seem to cancel the best shows around.

To name a few of my favorites : Futurama, but yet they don’t can King of the hill, what a piece of garbage that show is, Farscape, a very good show, at least they had the decency to wrap things up in a minimovie, John Doe another fox casualty, a good premise and a good watch, Andromeda, I liked this one a lot, it lasted longer than most. Now its SG1 has gotten the axe, oh well, I guess I’ll go watch some reality TV drivel not….

Kevin Mitnick the famed hacker has had his own website hacked.  Now I find this highly ironic that Kevin now makes all his money from telling others how hackers work, and how to prevent hackers from attacking your site and then his own site is hacked.  Now granted his own site could be hosted somewhere other than his own machines, the most likely of scenarios, since my site is hosted no where near my plethora of machines, but still makes you wonder.

So I’m sorry for those who read this blog but I generally don’t get a chance to post over the weekends, it just seems to be the way things are, I spend my weekends doing other things that generally mean I’m not always in front of the computer, or if I am Its not for long.

Anyway Darren once again at problogger.net posted this list. I especially like 7 and 9. Now I have nothing against myspace, but honestly its one of those things where its like lets put little thought into it and post my day to day life on myspace. Now I do have a profile myself on myspace, but I put it up there a few months ago at the prodding of my best friend. I don’t use it, I don’t really care about it.

I really like number 9 because I’ve come across so many political blogs it drives me crazy, I don’t care much about politics, I try my best to avoid it, and before you get on my case, I can’t even vote so I care even less. I’m just sick and tired of seeing all these politics blogs, enough already, been there, done that and seen it a million times, pick something new, or different, not the same old crud.

This site is currently registered in 3 blog exchanges, and honestly I’m fed up with surfing through numerous blogs that I care nothing about. The whole process is tedious and slow, and frustrating at times, and I’m even on a very fast connection. These exchange are overloaded also, they are very very slow.

Why am I bitching, because I don’t have the time to continue to surf 100+ blogs a day just to drive a bunch of traffic to my site, knowing 99% of it doesn’t care about my blog, just as much as I don’t care about their blog. I’ve taken some steps to make my site more searchable, it shows up on Google, its been linked to from some other blogs, I even managed to create a fairly good list a few days ago that attracted a few comments, way more than I imagined.

So my goal is to continue writing content, which is not an easy task as you know, and just hope that my few readers continue to read, and maybe slowly I’ll bring in more readers.

I figure that others have done just fine without blog exchanges, and I reckon I can do ok too, I think I’ve achieved a few important steps, got a small following at least, got some linkage, and got some ok content, now I just need to keep at it and hopefully I will succeed.

I figured I’d give out a little free advertising, but check out the Google Widget I wrote for my current company. Its pretty neat and its really nice to see some of my work actually out there for anyone who pleases to use it. Its the AccuWeather Hurricane Widget, the link to it is here.

I plan on writing some more of these neat little widgets for other uses, I’m a big electronics fan and figured that maybe someone will find some Electronic type widgets useful, I’ve not written them yet, but I have some ideas about what I plan on doing, if I do publish them, I’ll post them here.

As some of you may already know, Darren at Problogger.net has been running a List group writing project, I submitted my list and decided to post some of my favorite tech/geek lists here.

Top 10 Firefox Super Extensions - I’m always on the lookout for new Firefox extensions to make my life easier, and this list certainly helps out.

8 1/2 pieces of Blogging software I have used - Another great list, especially for those who are just starting out in the Blogging world and not sure what software to use.  I myself am using wordpress for all my needs.

How I set up wordpress - Another useful list for folks like myself, especially since I use wordpress, I’m going to put some of these suggestions to good use.

10 ways to make your digital photos last forever - Being a huge digital camera fan, these tips are worth their weight in gold, some are common sense, but some are just plan useful.

5 and a half reasons why Internet trolls are awesome - Come on, its about trolls, who doesn’t enjoy an Internet troll every now and then.

11 Linux distro’s (plus one) - I’ve been a Linux user for years, it was nice to see a good list about Linux Distro’s in the mix.

10 Cool features of the Google search box - Some of these I never knew you could do with Google.

Right now these are my favorite tech/geek lists, now I do have other favorites, especially some of the more humorous ones, and maybe I’ll post those in a separate post.

So in thinking of things to write for this blog, and since its technology / geek orientated I figured I’d do a Wordpress plugin of the week type thing, since firstly I’m using Wordpress for my blog, and secondly I figured it would be useful to provide some feedback and a mini review on some of the Wordpress plugin’s that are floating around out there.

The plugin of the week is, drum roll please, Adsense-Deluxe plugin for Wordpress.  This plugin allows you to easily and simply put in Adsense code anywhere on your site.  By going into the options and defining your different types of ads and the codes associated with them you can easily create very simple PHP calls that can be plugged in anywhere on your site, where you plugin the call, your Adsense code will appear.  Its useful in keeping everything clean and simple and provides a nice little interface to keep track of all the different Adsense ads you might have.  I’ve read some folks have up to 7 different types of Adsense blocks on their sites, so this would be a great tool to keep those in check.

10) No matter how often you save your work, your computer will always crash that one time you forget. It is usually something very important and will take you hours to recreate.

9) The one file you need access to, will for whatever reason suddenly become corrupted, even though the other 250gb of data on your hard drive is just fine. The changes of the file you need become corrupt increase with its importance, I.e last years tax return or your resume you spent hours working on a got “perfect”.

8) When in a hurry to look something up, your Internet connection will always slow to a crawl.

7) When searching for a site through Google, the one site that you really want to look at is always unavailable.

6) No matter how many times you check your code, as soon as it goes live, it will always instantly break.

5) When posting in your blog, the chances of your browser crashing increase exponentially with the length of article you are writing.

4) You try to tab switch when your boss walks by and your computer grinds to a halt, your hard drive is grinding away and your boss gets to see you surfing porn at work.

3) You go to your parents to fix their computer because they are having problems, you fix it and instantly by the time you get home something else is wrong with it. The problem becomes more profound the further away you live from them.

2) You buy the newest graphics card, DVD burner, photo printer etc, and as soon as you get it home and start using it, you find something way better and usually cheaper than what you bought.

1) Computers are out to get us, its not paranoia its a fact, just look at Dell batteries, they explode, if that’s not to be taken personally, well I don’t know what is.

This is contribution post that is part of the Problogger List - Group Writing Project
